OK, so this all had me thinking, so I just walked out to look at my 4400 V8 Brush Truck. The exhaust is not the issue as it goes under the cross member. The only thing I see is the back spark plug is only a few inches away from the column, so maybe that's it...the V8 was to wide and they had to change the linkage to miss the plugs???
