I have a 1949 Chevy 1/2 ton with a 216 engine. I heard a very low scratching noise and found it was the water pump pulley . It was wobbling. I removed the fan belt and found the fan was loose. I thought I would tighten the fan bolts and problem fixed. The bolts were already tight. Mind you the truck is not overheating or leaking at all. I removed the fan , but I can not remove the pulley. I don' t know why the pulley won' t tighten up. Any idea fellows what can be wrong before I have to remove the water pump.
