If your getting solicited to do cars I'd say you have skills!!! Practice, practice is what get's you there.....
I haven't tried the xcaliburs - do the cover all brush types or just stripers?
One question - what kind of outliner have you used? I'm not very comfortable with mine - may be lack of practice though.
