I been on and off this form for a few years, finally decided to start collecting parts, hopefully I can finally get started on this project in the next few years. I got a 1955 6400 and I was wondering what the width of the frame is compared to a 73-88 1 ton truck. I planning on getting a dana 60 front end and transfer case to put in the truck, as well of putting a V8 in it. Was wondering if the GM version of the dana 60 will fit in pretty decent? I got a dana 70 off a P30 camper already waiting for it to replace the splitter rear end. I think that would fit in well but not sure.
I don't have the the 6400 home to go out an measure, it's in storage. Another question is Should I keep the sm420 in it and add the transfer case to it or put in a sm465? I probably end up with a ls 6.0 in it but still undecided yet. I have no problem buying off set wheels for it to make up for the axles incase they are too long or short. I didn't see any threads about this unless searched wrong.
