Jorb, your description of a low-pressure 216/235 engine's lubrication of the rods is not entirely correct.
At low RPM you are correct: the rod dippers scoop up oil to lubricate the rod bearings (by the way, this is not splash oil lubrication - thanks for not using that term).
However, at higher RPM, a stream of oil is "shot"/directed into the dippers (a open "pressure-lubrication" system).
I think someone should clarify what is the definition of a full pressure oiling engine.
