If you need a short shaft pump, I assume you're using a 55-62 235 in an older chassis. Have you considered using the adapter plate for the 216 pump instead of the modified short shaft pump?

The fan will be in a better location and there won't be the cooling problems associated with the oddball fan position. Since it looks like you're going to need to change pumps anyway, at least consider going with the adapter plate.
