The cast iron Powerglide was offered behind a 235 but if using any other you will need an adapter which can be drilled and tapped for side mounts. The Powerglide had a cast iron adapter between the I6 engine and trans but maybe others could tell if it would be strong enough to hold mounts. I used a Bendsten's adapter behind my 37 Buick straight 8 to take a 2004R OD automatic and then used 55-57 Chevy auto trans bell housing mounts bolted to the steel adapter. The Buick and 235 Chevy are very similar engines in design---just longer.
