One difference is 48 model has a center rear cab mount. The later cabs have one mount each side of the frame at the rear of the cab. This is not a problem at all, but you may need to drill 4 holes in the frame to use the later type (better) mount system.
Another advantage to using a later cab is the gas tank will be in the cab, so with your original you'd have two tanks, twice the range.
