The bent frame issue is a red flag for me. That will thwart most of your processes of elimination of potential other problems caused by the changes from stock which you have made.
I would suggest that you have the frame straightened, regardless of your frugal budget. I am also the frugal type, but sometimes you have to dole out some cash.
