have for maney years wanted to restore a 55 chevy pickup, and mount the body on a more modern 4wd chasis. thats been my dream truck. but i just about gave up. it seems like everytime i had a few extra bucks to get started, i couldn't find a truck to save my life. then when im broke one will turn up. well a couple weeks ago almost just what i wanted fell in my lap, i said almost. i suddenly came into possesion a 1959 chevy 3100 pickup mounted on a 1983 jeep j10 pickup frame and drive train. the clutch wouldn't release, so i pulled the tranny, the clutch was stuck to the preassure plate, so i pulled the flywheel had it turned ordered a heavy duty clutch kit. the front seal on the tranny leaking like a stuck pig. so i got comming a overhaul kit with new bearings syncroes seals gaskets spacers ext. i also orderd a high end auto tranny kit for a th350 im swaping for a 700r4 in my 89 Z71. the 700r just wont hold up. of course the weather has turned to crap, it was dry and sunny the whole month waiting for parts. some still haven't come. i have a shop but i like to do that kind of work outside on the grass on cardboard. i park the truck over a dip in the yard and you can just about set up. i guess thats enough for now. look forward to making new friends.
