Another possible spot for engine block casting number is to the right of the fuel pump.
If engine is in the truck it is kind of hard to see.
It is under a ledge, I stuck my camera down in the area and took a blind shot.
Picture I have also seen the engine block casting number where it says GM in the above picture.
