Obviously lack of grease will lead to the early demise of the kingpins and bushings, but I wasn't talking about the kingpins wearing out, I was talking about the bushing bore of the spindle wearing. To me, if the bushing wasn't allowed to move inside the spindle, the spindle should never wear at all. But since the bushings are able to move inside the spindle, logic tells me that after time this would cause unwanted wear to the bushing bore, creating unwanted slop, properly greased or not. What is the advantage of the bushing being able to move inside the spindle?
