I have a friend who built inside steps on a 60 ford behind the door. He ribbed them by welding a thin (1/8" high, 1" wide) piece to the top and rounding the exposed edges. You can't tell the difference between the raised thin piece vs. the passenger side with a depressed edge. Cool idea. I can send a photo if you're interested.
