Does the starter spin without engaging the flywheel in that spot? If so, and it doesn't do so in other locations, you need a flywheel, or at least a new ring gear. If the starter armature does not turn with the pedal fully depressed, you've got an electrical problem, not a mechanical one. There's a remote possibility that the starter pinion teeth are jamming against the flywheel teeth instead of engaging, and also preventing the linkage from depressing the electrical switch far enough. Hope that's all there is, and your problem doesn't return!
