Angle is best to set to match pinion angles on rear differential or as close as possible. If the rear is 4deg up then engine usually is 4 down. (straight line setting).
After considering pinion angle, level heads are next desired. forward/rear placement is space available. Basically clearance for 350s distributor and in the front fan blades and room for fan shroud. You can not do much to adjust rear clearance on the 350 but you can do mod on the front to gain space.
Side to side centered is first choice but some left or right shift to clear obstacles (I E steering). Choice of exhaust will also help here with early chevy rams horn exhaust being the tightest.
