I Removed the shifter, drove out the two pins on the side of the tranny neck and inserted two larger roll pins. This made up for the wear in the shifter and took out a lot of the slop. Both the original pins and the shifter slots wear over time partially due to constant pressure on them by drivers keeping their hand on the shifter while driving. Good luck.
