The truck has not changed owner ship since the last time it was registered.
All you should have to do is to bring old registration down to the DMV and say you want to register it again. You pay your money and you will get your plates.
Do you have a receipt for the latest engine?
Then you can show that. And get a new vin number. But this could open a can of worms.
