Hy 54John3100, the amperages listed on the alternators are their maximum output, not what they constantly put out. The internal regulated alternators are the simplest to install. Personally I prefer the three wire install rather than the single wire alternator because of the voltage sensing issue. The installation can be accomplished using some of the original wiring, as six volt wiring is twice as big as it needs to be capacity wise.
