What's the final intended purpose? Towing/hauling? Just a driver? In any case, you're probably going to have to do some modification to the transmission cover in the cab for clearance. For a diver, I would suggest the 700R4, very common, GM used them in trucks up to 3/4 ton, and they have a good overdrive rear.
