Most of you know I have titanium rods in my back so I can't do very much lifting. So I had to figure out a way to do engine work anyway. Years ago I purchased this winch from Harbor Freight. Its an 880 pound capacity.

Anyway, I have it very securely fastened to one of the main beams on my building so I am not in the least worried about it falling. I use this after getting a few guys to move the engine block to the floor (from the Explorer) then I can take it from there.

Once the block is on the engine stand (piece of cake with this winch) I do the lower end of the engine, then before I put on the Head, I take it off the engine stand, and put it on the test stand with the same winch. This thing has paid for itself many times over.
