| | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,214 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,214 | The Dome light socket is a 2-wire socket. One wire is hot all the time and the other is a Switched Ground. The Switched Ground wire is connected to both door switches and the headlight switch and nothing else. As soon as one door opens the door switch plunger springs out and allows the one wire connected to it to contact the outer shell of the switch that IS grounded to the door post and the light comes on, the circuit is completed. The same will happen if you're inside driving and you rotate the headlight switch the cam on the knob grounds the dome light ground wire and the light comes on. To make the light go "off" all of the ground wires must be "open", not touching anything. Hope this makes sense, Mike B  | | |
