Teen48, the biggest consideration of finishes would be what end uses you plan to make of this truck. If you are planning on using it as, well, a TRUCK, you should just paint it black-easier touch ups when it gets scratched or gouged. If it's just going to be a show truck then by all means go the full route with smooth finished boards sealed with several good coats of marine spar varnish.
