If you are lucky enough to have an old transmission, you can remove the front shaft and use it as
an alignment tool.
Many clutch-assembly sets include a plastic alignment tool (as shown at the link above).
You could place a Want Ad in the Swap Meet and ask to borrow an alignment tool (and pay for shipping).
You could put a city name in your Profile "Location" and someone nearby might offer to lend you a tool.
