1953 was the first full pressure 235, and that was only in cars with Powerglide transmissions. Trucks started in 1954.
I have had an old 6 lying about on our property for a while now that my dad picked up while doing his '53 car project. It has the older (216) style water pump port arrangement but is obviously not a splash oiler (no "Tenneco sign" shaped plate)and it had the 4 side screw valve cover. The casting numbers say it is an late '53- early '54 model engine. This engine has a
manual transmission car bell housing attached- seemingly precluding the idea that it had a Powerglide. The question is... what did this come out of?
