There is always someone in these types of media discussions that doesn't understand the various and completely understandable passions that each side carries. So they try to side with one or the other in some vain attempt to gain favor. It's embarrassing.
Why I come here is because there is a way to resolve all of the BS without much trying even. Rather than depending on friends, or THIS source or THAT source, how about we just stick to the facts in a totally unbiased way? State your sources, the other person states their sources. In doing this normally it reveals that someone is blowing smoke out of their arse, and it all becomes apparent. Research these days isn't a static thing. Google makes it possible for your research to become obsolete THE NEXT DAY!
Nevermind what it has taken 200 years for you to understand, that is all out of the window now because the world has become a much smaller place due to the Internet. Your opinion carries less weight as a super experienced 400 year old as the 20 year old guy who knows how to use Google. Understand it, believe in it, and be humbled by it. How do you matter now? Explain your reasoning in detail saving that information for generations to come.
I try every single day to glean information that will be lost FOREVER because some of our older generation is either leaving us, or forgetting. Rather than Pontificating, and more or less making a total [censored] out of yourself, make this information obtainable thru Google and places that care, like HERE for example. Write down these procedures that matter to you. Make it GOOGLEABLE! Or, just keep yapping to no reasonable end. When you are gone, someone will take your place, maybe several.
If you don't have the GUTS to write How-To Articles for the masses, or at least participate in documenting the history of our craft, please waste our time more! I for one have nothing better to do than listen to years and years of negativity towards any effort to document these things, and give NOBODY anything more than a clue. Congrats, you help the totally clueless. Thats a niche market I suppose, but the minute Mr Clueless learns something, you become insignificant. Join the team of people who actually want people to succeed! What a concept! And you all know darn WELL the people who I am talking about.
