Rebuilt my carb. The engine was running fine, but then started to over flow from where the top of the carb meets the bowl.

The filter prior to the carb had a lot of what seems like rust particles.

I removed the carb, and find fine rust colored particles in the bottom. I'm guessing that the guy I took the tank to for reconditioning didn't seal the inside.

I drained the gas today, and expected to find rust in the gas, but I didn't.

Back to the carb. I am trying to eliminate the cause of the carb over filling. Looking at the Needle seat when I move the float manually up and down the needle doesn't 'fall' back down. I took the new one out, and put the old one back in...same thing. It seems that the needle remains in the up/closed position, and won't fall back down when the float falls. BUT, I would think that this problem would cause a starvation of gas, and not an over flow or flooding situation.

I'm confused. I will check out the floats as well to see if they are leaking. Any suggestions to keep the needle valve going up and down?

Thanks,
Steven
