| Crusing in the Passing Lane Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 5,096 | Many rear ends have the ring and pinion ratio stamped on the end of the pinion shaft, under the U joint, so that can be checked without taking the whole works apart, just to make sure it hasn't been changed to something else.
