Hy Raoul, the sending unit for the fuel gauge should work with twelve volts, the two operating coils in the fuel gauge in the dash can't handle the twelve volts. Most twelve volt conversions install a voltage reducer in front of the fuel gauge "Runtz" is one brand of reducer and from my experience a pretty good one, hope that helps.
