Yesterday, we removed the front fenders (outer and inner) from my 53 Chevy 3100. When we go to the radiator support, it was wobbly loose, held by only one bolt. Ended up cutting the one bolt with the sawzall to remove the radiator support to find this...

The missing piece of front crossmember was gone...and has probably been gone for decades. There was one small piece, you can see it in the photo, laying by the shims.

I guess I am going to have to weld in a patch and drill the mounting hole for the radiator support.

Makes me wonder what caused that.
