Hey Fox - for most people the intent of the flat black was a cheap primer job to to give it all one color. If you intend on putting on a flat clear coat you are getting into more money. You can also buy a single stage flat paint that is automotive grade or you can get the John Deere version. No disrespect intended to anyone with either, it is just about what you want to spend vs how long you wish it to last.

I wanted the same look as you but I ended up with using a flat clear over a 2004 GM sunburst orange metallic color. Looks fantastic on my test panels but it is all real paint that cost me real money cry
