Which engine are we talking about? A stovebolt six has a big plate sandwiched between the timing gear and the crankshaft which will make it very awkward to handle, and the camshaft MUST be removed first. V8's- - - -no problem- - - -just remove the timing chain and unbolt the main bearings.
