The reason I just joined this forum is due to my interest in finding an old flatbed truck that I can fix up as a hobby in my shop, that will also have some functional use around our little farm. It just so happens that in my short time of getting familiar with different models that are out there, I've really taken a liking to the 36-37 Chevy 1 1/2 ton trucks, like the OP. I don't think I'd ever do anything drastic in the sense of replacing the motor with something modern and all that, but this whole tread makes me want to ask...
What sort of carrying capacity could one expect from a '36-'37 1 1/2 ton truck? What engine sizes came with this year? What kind of weight could it pull behind it in a trailer? What's a comfortable top cruising speed?
