I had a similar issue with the seat in my 1950, 2 springs were broken. Fortunately I was able to find the same size spring through an online upholstery site. I'm not positive that the spring tension is identical to the originals but it sure feels a lot better on my aching keester. If you need a couple I think I have 3 or 4 extra in the shop, PM me.
