It should work quite well for you, On the S10 transmission I cut 3/8" off of the end of the input shaft where the pilot bearing rides, shamfer it up so that it does not jam up when you go to do the install. Then I drilled out the 4 metric holes that bolt the transmission to the bell housing to 1/2" you could go to 33/64" if you want a little wiggle room. Then you need to check the length of the sleave where the throw out bearing slides and make sure that length is the same as your 61 trans. if not it is very easy to shorten. I just put a hose clamp around it at the required lenght as a guide and used a zip disc to cut it off, careful not to damage the input shaft then I dressed it up with a file. I used the original flywheel and preasure plate and throw out bearing but had to change the clutch disc to acomidate the S10 spline. My neighbour had a brand new disc from a 92 pontiac sunbird (V6) it fit just right. In your case check the lenght of your drive shaft and also the spline on your yoke to make sure all is happy. Smooth shifting! If you want overdrive you can use the T5 trans out of the S10 but becarefull they have been known to have problems with the 5th gear counter shaft. Also check the end of your speedo cable if it is not the same that can be easly solved but that is for an other email. Good luck
