First of all Jerry has been holding out on us...we didn't know he could do body work !

Jock - that's what threw me off, the whole panel was trimmed for a butt joint for the reasons you mentioned, so I was wondering what the cleco's were holding on to? I think Jerry's got it, every 8 to 10 inches they left a 1/4 inch section of the old metal and used a pneumatic crimper as Jerry describes to crimp the old steel in that small 1/4 in section so the rest of the new panel can butt up to the old, and give an overlap to use the cleco. They didn't show any of these details on the program, but I'm thinking they welded up to the clips, then used a very thin hacksaw blade and cut the clips, then worked their way to the next clip.
