Seriously guys (and gals), the lower compression engines should run WORSE on the higher octane fuel

Could it be, that since the Blue Funk ran well on regular fuel and the difficulty starting was the only issue, the higher octane fuel is merely a shot in the arm; a kind of boost, to get it going?
