When bolted down to the fender, the nut sits about a quarter inch from the light housing. The nuts are usually rusted on and the stud breaks right about there. I've removed two sets and bought a third off Ebay. The two sets I removed all broke despite liberal amounts of Kroil penetrating oil. The set from ebay was broken also. I was able to weld a similar size stud to what was left on the housing and then grind and rethread. They came out pretty decent and usable. Hope this helps!
