I had posted a similar question in the lounge, and thought of another way to make the repair to my chassis after I uncovered the problem area. The metal in question is heavily pitted, but appears to be solid enough to clean up, no holes justr chewed up a bit. My question is can I take my mig welder and lay consevutive beads of weld along this area to build it up. My thought is to then grind it smooth and level w/ the good metal.
Whould this create any risk such as annealing the metal in this area? I think it would work but am by no means a very proficient welder. I can weld a nice bead on a flat surface though.
