I purchased the entire exhaust system for my '52 from one of the parts vendors (Chevs of the 40s probably). The system had a few issues the biggie being that the tailpipe would not engage the muffler. I had to carry it to a local exhaust shop and have them expand the pipe to fit over the muffler outlet. And, the tailpipe went straight out the left rear and turned down toward the ground. It was my understanding that Chevy started pointing the exhaust down so that when the tailgate was lowered all the way down, the exhaust would not be blocked by the tailgate. Of course this is only applicable to trucks without rear bumpers. I don't necessarily like the down turned exhaust as it blows up dust when in off road.
