it has nothing to do with high compression, it has to do with the electronic fuel injection, and yes by design a carbureted engine in most street applications need to have the intake heated. And I don't know of any good muffler shops, I do know to avoid Walts. And $650 is about the going rate around here. If you want a decent exhaust that is.
