I just had to replace the hub oil seals on the rear axle. I took everything completely apart so I could inspect the bearings and races. Of course one of the races on the passenger side was pretty bad, so I decided to replace both bearings and races on that side. So the book calls for soft cup grease on reassembly. Since I don't have any I was wondering if soaking the bearings in new 75-90 gear lube would be good enough? It sticks to them well and it just has to last long enough for the same lube out of the pumpkin to reach the hubs. I'm sure its okay but it never hurts to double check. Also the book says to tight up the axle nut tight and then back it off the distance between two axle shaft bolt holes, does that sound right?
