On my 55 1st, the rear hood support isn't affixed to the sheetmetal so you can lift it off the bracket. Should this be stuck to the support with epoxy or some other adhesive as I have seen in other applications. There doesn't appear to be signs there was any "stick-um" on it before plus I don't know if the cowl seal would lift the sheetmetal off the support when the hood was closed. I remember seeing a fiber cushion material attached with a black tar as a metal to metal separator on hoods on some rigs.
