I finished the replacement of the lower hinge pillar panel on my 54 along with the inner, in to out and outer cowl panels and I am not able to get the lower portion of the door to pull in flush with the outer cowl. I have about a .25" to close up.
The cab and door and lower left door hinge are not from the same vehicles.
The door opening was fully braced prior to replacement and the opening measurements are now the same as before the pillar was cut. No weatherstripping is in place at this time.
The available options as I see them are:
1. Bend the hinge arm inward at the first bend,
2. Slot the holes laterally in the hinge mounting plate,
3. Get another hinge and see if does any good (anyone have one?),
4. Modify the hinge pocket to give it some more lateral adjustment (Last resort).
Has anyone else fought this battle? The door fits fine from the belt line up. The fact the pieces are from different trucks could be a factor. I do have another door to try but it is not in as good a shape as the original.
