When I drove cross country in my 1946 one Ton ( San Francisco to Dallas and back )...I had rebuilt the Engine, gone through the whole Brake system, did a lot of remedial things, Greased everything well, and done a lot of small things, lubed the Door Locks, serviced/lubed the Speedometer and it's Cable Sheath and so on...so, I felt it would do fine, and, it did. I had no troubles.
Like Vollfandt mentions, mine was alto perfectly content to cruise at 47 MPH, and I did all I could to stay on old secondary Roads where 47 would be just fine.
