I have had the same problem, usually with people following too close to see my taillights and are accustomed to looking for the 3rd brake light found on modern cars. I'm adding 2 different 3rd lights on mine, a "line of fire" style led strip under the tailgate which also has turn signals, and a
vintage 3rd brake light at the front of the bed.
BTW, my truck is a light blue, and I have that problem day or night.
