MartinSr will probably have a lot more info but here's what I know/do. I paint stuff like interiors and small parts with a touch-up gun. It shoots out a lot less paint but does a very good job. What air pressure are you using? What you use will be dependent on your gun and paint type. Too much air pressure means excessive atomization which wastes paint and may produce a poor quality paint job. HVLP...high volume, low pressure. The low pressure is at the tip of the gun. The theory from what I know is that the paint velocity is lower from the tip, resulting in more paint sticking to the surface instead of blowing around. Overspray is reduced but doesn't go away completely.
