Thanks for the reply. The distributor "rocks" back and forth slightly due to clearances between the dist and block. I have read that it is normal and does not cause a problem.The PO had an oring there but then the advance can not turn it. I can recheck the centrifugal advance but I have already cleaned and checked out all dist parts. The vacuum advance is new and works ok. I thought maybe the fuel pump spring is weak and the engine is starving for gas??
