i have as dash lighting only on my 51 3104 ... not my gauges as i have new style gauges w/ leds.
as far as gauges go try and use a hot glue gun to hold them in place...

my dash lighting:
two direction indicators = green
one oil = red
one alternator = amber
one high beam = blue

these are about 2-4 bucks each and you NEED a resistor to make them work on 12 volt, about 2 bucks for 5.
