I bought a new coil, spark plugs and spark plug wires. Got it all hooked up and still no spark. My ignition wire going to the coil wasn't giving a reading on the volt meter so we just hot wired a directly from the battery to the positive of the coil. Still no spark. We finally just scrathed a little on the points and then it fired right up. Now we have two new problems. The new coil got so hot it quit working. We put the old one back in it and we were back going again. What is getting the coil so hot? Our other problem is gas. The fuel tank sat for 20 years with a gallon or so of gas in it. We drained it and it was terribly varnished and nasty. The fuel pump is sucking good we just can't get gas out of the tank. Any tricks on cleaning out a gas tank.
