It is 1/8 " pipe threads. If you are using original gauges it uses a tube that goes to the gauge from this outlet with the proper fitting. If you have electric gauge the sender will go in the outlet. The temp unit goes in a 1/2" pipe outlet on the intake near the therm. Some later heads have an outlet between the 2 front spark plugs on the left side & between the last 2 on the right hand side.
